Early 19th C. tall highboy. Base much older than the top portion. Commonly, the top drawer sections were made into separate pieces and sold off. This piece shows evidence of that with it's newer (1970-80's top). Bottom chest made of highly figured Maple with dovetailed back panel in Poplar. Wormy Chestnut secondary wood present on original and newer drawers sides/bottoms. Top chest also shows Wormy Chestnut on the bottom and top of its cabinet. Signature in Pencil present on the inside of the base cabinet, "Carr" ... This is likely a refinisher or perhaps the upper cabinet maker. Measures 72.5" tall overall x 36.5" height of the base alone x 39" wide at the feet. x 20" deep at the feet.

Condition
