This antique postal scale features brass components, including two pans and a set of four imperial weights, mounted on a stained base. The larger pan is inscribed with "POSTAL RATES FOR LETTERS" and details for "Not Exceeding 3oz 2d" and "FOR EVERY ADDITIONAL 1oz = 1/2D". The accompanying brass weights are marked 1oz, 2oz, and 4oz, with one partially legible. This piece reflects historical postal measurement practices.
Condition
The item exhibits significant signs of age and use. The brass components show heavy tarnish, discoloration, and surface scratches. The base has numerous scratches, scuffs, and areas of finish loss, consistent with prolonged use. The felt inserts for the weights are worn and discolored. One weight's inscription is partially legible. The overall integrity of the scale appears stable, but it displays a well-patinated antique aesthetic.

* For items which remain un-claimed beyond the pickup window: Standard storage fees are $5 per lot, per day, beginning the next Tuesday following the pickup window.
* We will not assume a buyer requires shipping for any reason. The buyer agrees to request shipping in writing to info@fairauctionco.com, and they risk forfeiting their items if this request is not made within 7 days of the auction close. No refund will be extended as a result of buyer forfeiture.
